Jordan Thomas Can Face Hatters

Gainsborough Trinity face Stockport County in the cup on Saturday after beating Harrogate 2-0 thanks to some help fashioned from the feet of Imps.   It will be an interesting tie as Stockport manager Ian Bogey resigned after a 3-1 defeat to Harrogate but County then went on to beat the Blues 3-1.  Since then Housham has strengthened, signing almost every striker in Christendom for the Trinity with the in-form side climbing the Skrill North table with 4 wins on the spin. County Boss Alan Lord is also over the moon after being given the manager’s job on a permanent basis following yesterday’s 4-0 win over Worcester City

Trinity play Stockport in the FA Cup this Saturday, eager to avenge a 3-1 defeat at County on 9th September with Jordan Thomas set to feature after Lincoln agreed to allow him to play in the Cup.  The Blues sit a point and two places in front of The Hatters in 13th and will be the outsiders. In some ways it is the best draw they could possibly expect at this stage of the competition given the support of the Hatters.  With a 4,000 crowd expected Trinity could get a 40% cut of the gate to boost their finances post Peter Swan with the addition of £7,500 in prize money should they pull off a giant killing. A win would also put them in the hat for the 4th qualifying round and the chance of a tie at Luton, Grimsby, Boston or Lincoln.

Alas  Jordan will not be able to play against Lincoln should we meet in the FA Cup, although the Lincoln influence is certainly lifting Trinity. Ex-Imp striker Bradley Barraclough got on the score sheet in the 2-0 win at Harrogate, heading home Stamps flick, with another old face, Simon Russell, getting the second from the spot.  Jordan Thomas was instrumental in the first goal during the 2-0 FA win over Rushall Olympic, crossing for Barraclough’s effort to be saved only for Stamp to feed on the scraps.

Simon Russell has also been playing superbly, indeed it was his thunderbolt against the post at Leamington, allowing Stamp to pounce again, that led to a 1-0 win at Leamington that lifted Trinity from bottom of the table the previous week. Connor Robinson, unlike Jordan, is unable to play in the FA Cup, however he set-up the first in Trinity’s 2-1 win over Barrow, to earn the Blues their first win and points of the season. On a somewhat random note, Gainsborough have never been relegated in their entire history.
