Misfit Target Man Up For Grabs.

Richard Brodie the former Crawley Town & York City goal machine has returned to Gateshead FC after a loan spell at Hereford United.  Gary Simpson had previously enquired about the lad in the summer but had been unable to match the wages Gateshead have been dishing out.  Could Simmo move for Brodie on loan to sort his target man problems?

Although the manager seems in no rush to spend the loan budget, Brodie – now fit after 8 games at Hereford – would be the perfect target man. At 6′ 2″ the take no prisoners no nonsense striker would give Yussuff and Tomlinson the knock downs they need.

Simmo had almost landed Richard during his half-season loan at Grimsby last term but the window shut before a deal could be tied up. There had been fitness issues prior to his 8 game Hereford loan spell after the player had not featured for the Heed despite 2 goals in the first 7 games, where he scored against Saturday’s opponents Kidderminster and Southport.

Brodie is a big strong lad who should be plying his trade further up the pyramid,  he’s not pretty, rather a direct no frills aerial handful with a shot that can be hot to handle when he has his tail up.  Simmo could be just the manager to ignite that, Brodie got 69 goals in 165 appearances for York City.

With Gateshead winning five of their last six games while he was away the bustling forward may have to wait for his chance.  Manager Gary Mills  now has six strikers on his books, including on loan Port Vale front man Jordan Hugill, who has already bludgeoned home four.  Mills has already asked for an extension to Hugill’s loan and permission for the lad to play in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup at Chester FC.  He looks like getting it suggesting Simmo could move with £12,500 up for grabs in the Cup on Saturday week.

Simmo is in no rush but Richard does seem to have got his passion back under former manager Foyle who could not afford to keep him it seems, he had this to say upon his return to his home-town club.

“The lads have been flying so I will have to be patient and work hard to get back into the side. I want the chance to prove I can score goals at this level like I have in the past for York and Crawley. The reason I came back to Tyneside in the summer was to play for my home-town club. I’ll give it a real go and I’m more determined than ever to succeed at Gateshead.”

Imps Striker Target Joins Bulls

Richard Brodie the former Crawley Town & York City has left Gateshead FC for a loan spell at Hereford United.  Gary Simpson had previously enquired about the lad in the summer but had been unable to match the wages Gateshead have been dishing out. Former Imp Larkin is also said to be on substantially more than the Imps paid him last season.

Although the manager seems in no rush to spend the loan budget, Brodie if fit would have been a great addition alongside Tomlinson up front. Simmo had almost landed Richard during his half-season loan at Grimsby last term but the window shut before a deal could be tied up.  Fit is the question however, as the player is understood not to be featuring for the Heed with concerns over his general fitness, this, despite 2 goals in the first 7 games.

Brodie is a big strong lad who should be plying his trade further up the pyramid. He’s a no frills lad but his aerial presence and shot are hot to handle when he has his tail up. Canny manager Martin Foyle will reignite that if anyone can Brodie got 69 goals in 165 appearances for him at York City.
