Farman Ready and Waiting

Paul Farman, normally the difference between a point or a hiding for the Imps, has almost been able to take his pipe and slippers onto the stage at the Theatre of the absurd.  But he and Preece have not been getting complacent putting the hours in on the training pitch to ensure the heroic keeper is not found wanting when the need arises.

Paul is of course from Newcastle whilst Preece and Brown are from Sunderland, but the accent is close enough. The  North-East duo are probably the only two that can fully oondahstaaand Grant Brown, although an interpreter may soon be required given the abundance of Yorkshire accents at the training ground.  That said some of the ‘French’ is also beyond the vocabulary of Mo Fofana – a Frenchman by birth.

Farman has only had to make ten saves so far this season and four of those are crosses.  But when he has been called into action Farman has not let the side down as usual.  After being overlooked for England C inclusion you get the feeling his return to the limelight is not that far away.

Farman BSP Player of The Month Or England C Call Up?

Lincoln City Keeper Paul Farman has been absolutely brilliant between the sticks this season and must be a contender for player of the month. The former England C goalkeeper is also said to be close to knocking on Paul Fairclough’s door again, as his season continues to go from strength to strength. Ebbsfleet’s Edwards and Stockport’s Ormson are the two in front of him for the C No1 spot

It is hard to remember a goal that you could put down to Paul, who has made 43 saves, including a penalty and three double saves.

Good luck with a second clean sheet tomorrow, with the help of returning Miller to partner Boyce.

Imps Sign England C Keeper

Former Newcastle United youth Paul Farman is back from Gateshead FC. The brave keeper will be our new number one after signing a deal until May 2013.

Paul spent 8 games on loan at the Imps between November and December last year, only returning to the Heed due to injury.  He made 3 great saves in a vital 2-1 win over Barrow on his debut and kept two clean sheets against Ebbsfleet and Forest Green as well as keeping us in the 0-1 reverse atNewport- at that point a new low for the Imps. His 8 saves during the 2-0 win over FGR, in which he sustained the injury,  won us the game.  He would recover from injury to reclaim the number one spot with the Heed (he was an unused sub at the Imps upon his return from the physios table) delivering 3 clean sheets in 9 games before being dropped for the last 4 games.

Many were sad to see him go although Joe Anyon did come back strong after the red card incident. His big Achilles heel has to be his distribution, although pound for pound he is a solid stopper at our level.

Welcome back Paul….. and we can genuinely call youEngland’s number one next season as you have also played between the sticks for England C.
