Adam underperformed at Lincoln big time, 2 goals and 4 assists apart, but he has the ability and, at 27 still has time to prove it.  He is comfortable on either flank, in a conventional 4-4-2 or more advanced role in a three pronged attack. He does have the ability to win games on his own, something we rarely saw it at Sincil Bank. He was used more away from home after bearing the brunt of fans disapointment. At 5′ 11″ he can also been used as a central striker although his counter-attacking style sees him work best from wide positions.

Good luck Adam, except of course against us lol.

Andrew Boyce has agreed to sign a new 2 year deal with the Imps despite rumours he might be joining up with a former Gainsborough Guru at Scunthorpe UnitedMansfield Town or Chesterfield FC.   The former Doncaster Rovers defender  could have netted the Imps at least £25,000 at a tribunal but manager Simmo is happier to have him than the cheeky alleged asking fee of fifty grand. On 14 Nov 2013 Boyce agreed to join Peter Swann at Scunthorpe in January, a subsequent loan was agreed until Jan 5th on 21st Nov. The undisclosed fee meets a minimum release clause in his contract.

Andrew grew alongside Nat Brown last season and will continue to improve under Simmo’s guidance.  With Miller also able to play in the centre as well as defensive midfield, we could be looking at a back 5 at times just like in the play-off era under Keith Alexander.

Handy Andy sometimes stood alone last season as our central midfield quartet were regularly routed. He also pops up in both boxes at vital times notching 4 goals and nipping countless opportunities for those who would bulge Impdom’s net.

STMI christened Boycie the Beast of The Bank when he arrived. But he is now more than that. Already a hero, his never say die attitude will blossom next to Nat Brown, who can back him, or Tom Miller, up, when they dive in too early. Give it another half season, or so,to round off those rough edges and Boyce may well be plying his trade in League 1 sooner rather than later.  There are a few sides in that League knocking on the Championship door, where the TV money is a very healthy cushion indeed.  Then again, perhaps Peter Swann, who reluctantly had to let him go, may just have to do business with the Imps one more time at least.

Smith Becomes A Free Agent

Lincoln can thankfully join Aldershot, Mansfield, York City, Chesterfield and Gainsborough Trinity, on the list of a growing number of clubs fortunate enough to get Adam Smith off the wage bill. The Latin phrase ‘caveat emptor’ – colloquially known as ‘buyer beware’ comes to mind with a player who will frustrate more than Captain Hook at a volleyball tournament. If he had a feather for every time he went missing in action last season he would surely be the first winger to actually fly!

It is not as if he does not have the ability. The Stags certainly bought into and wore that T shirt before throwing it out. Well Holdsworth did and will doubtless sign him again some time soon.  Adam can, although rarely dare he, have the ground on its feet, toying with opponents. He can undo the foe with a cameo twinkle toe that will stop the show.  Assists for Aldershot  in season 2011/12 saw him run Dagenham (5-2) and Burton (2-0) ragged, but alas The Shots struggled in  October, November and December before sending him back to the Stags.

Although Adam started 8 of the 9 games he played upon his return to the Stags, netting 2 goals, he rarely finished a game.  An example of his impact potential saw him come on and bag a vital equaliser against Tamworth, a game the Stags would go on to win 2-1. Then in April he scored the opener against a resolute Stockport side as the Stags grabbed two in 8 second half minutes before being sacrificed as they held out for an invaluable 2-1 home win.
Adam underperformed at Lincoln big time, 2 goals and 4 assists apart. Allegedly he is comfortable on either flank, in a conventional 4-4-2 or more advanced role in a three pronged attack.  But in reality he is a passenger in games – opportunities that he could win on his own. At 5′ 11″ he can also been used as a central striker although his counter-attacking style sees him work best from wide positions. For every fan that says he deserves to be on the stage, another ten will say ‘what the first one out of town?’
Sorry to slate you for your time at the Imps Adam and the best of luck in the future.

7 Adam ‘Agent’ Smith Aims To Reboot Bank

Aldershot’s and Mansfield Town’s  mercurial winged assassin Adam Smith was heralded as one of Holdsworth’s most prized summer possessions and so the patient stalking of the Stag commenced.  No sooner had Reg’s Stag been bagged, we had a matrix moment upon us as the bleached haired charming chap availed us of his focused desire at a fans forum. Agent Smith you feel is here to reboot the Bank.

The former Chesterfield, York City, Mansfield and Aldershot flying winger finally joined the Imps  (STMI broke the news back on May 30th despite the announcements stating that the cupboard was bare).  The namesake of the Father of Economics is a smashing bloke with just the hunger desire and talent we need. Smith played more than half his games at Aldershot last season, in two loan spells at the club,  but David’s brother Dean , perhaps in an act of family loyalty, failed to conclude a deal for a lad who has firm family values of his own.  Adam has already been prepared to put his career on hold due to the ill-health of his young daughter.

Yes there is more to this lad than meets the eye and he has  just the hunger to go with a pretty precocious talent that will come to fruition at the Imps.  Adam had 7 seasons at Chesterfield so he has some league pedigree and will definitely do a job at our level as the first of his two seasons at the Stags showed. In 2010/11 he bagged 6 goals from 31 League and 2 FA Cup appearances, but you can quadruple his contribution when it comes to creating opportunities for others. Rob Duffy is going to love him almost as much as the Stacey West.

Adam has been typecast as an impact player, indeed most wingers, Carayol and DNG included, can be classed a luxury when you are up against it, but they are the heroes that really make the turnstiles click.  Adam’s work rate is good and offensively he is dynamite on either wing. He is one to have the ground on its feet, toying with mere mortals, by undoing the foe with a cameo that will stop the show . His two assists for Aldershot last term saw him run Dagenham (5-2) and Burton (2-0) ragged, but alas The Shots struggled in  October, November and December before sending him back to the Stags.
