Big Changes in The Vanarama Premiership On Tuesday Then

Three games – Barnet V Wrexham, FC Halifax V Grimsby Town and Woking V Torquay United – suggests Tuesday will be a huge night in the Vanarama Conference.  Alas all but the die-hards will be at home watching the Champions League, even though, pound for pound, the People’s Premiership just keeps on delivering the thrills and spills.

Barnet FC host Wrexham. Why ’tis poetry in motion, a game for the purists, between Mad-Dogs goal machines and the passing Princes from the Principality.  Purring? Indeed for the buzzing Hive will salivate with the sweetness of two in-form sides at the top of their game.

Halifax will fancy their chances of a return to the top then, given gutted and grumbling Grimsby have all their net busters on the treatment table.  The morose Mariners even cast aside a certain goal machine a week before the Lincolnshire derby, because,  they were awash with goals in August and needed not the services of Connell who would score in a convent.

We, at STMI Towers, always seem to overlook Woking, sitting pretty in second, but, surely this magic carpet ride of a  dream team must come to an end soon?  Perhaps it could be now, as The Cards go to Torquay in another crunch game of the night. The Gulls gig sets the wild cards against another flowing form team, who beat the Mariners 2-0 on Saturday. The Gulls could go second, after four wins on the spin.

The Gulls are certainly circling, the buzzards, unbeaten in eight games, two conceded with fifteen going in the right end, only  losing on opening day at Gateshead. The Heed go to Macclesfield in the other big one of the night, needing a win against their play-off rivals badly because anything less than three points will see Torquay go above them.  Braintree and besieged Aldershot are set for a Battle, with Eastleigh slipping and set for further heartbreak at home to the improving Forest Green. That win over Halifax sees FGR just one win from the play-off spots.

Ditto Kidderminster and Bristol Rovers who have home bankers over Altrincham and Nuneaton (now without a manager to boot). Lincoln go to Welling in what is sure to be the goal-fest of the night, on current form a five goal thriller either way is on the cards.
