Newton & Tomlinson plan to plunder A While Yet

Ben Tomlinson’s comments about Newton’s quality of delivery helping him to get a move have been taken out of context in some quarters. The Imps leading scorer is fully focused on adding to his seven goal haul again today with agent provocateur  Newton continuing to assist him in his quest.

Sean Newton has been a revelation this season, with many comparing his and Millers sensational wing-back contribution to that of Bimson and Bailey in the golden era under the late great KA. Keith Alexander knew how to feed the forwards and the same can be said of Simmo who has incouraged them to get down the flanks.

2 Miller 15 0 1350 2 4 1 2 10 11 3 0
3 Newton 18 0 1602 0 7 6 7 15 6 4 0

Newton leads the assist charts with 7 at the moment and Miller has delivered two, but both have seen plenty of their quality crosses go unfulfilled.  The two have had fantastic seasons and will be missed for a game shortly with the duo on 4 cautions so far this season a one match ban is almost inevitable.  Tomlinson has returned from his own ban with a vengeance and a brace against Worcester to set up a Cup tie against Plymouth that has everyone laughing all the way to the bank.

If Tommo can continue to grab goals at the rate he is he could end up with 19 this season and perhaps even join the exclusive 20 goal club. That book has not been dusted off since Yeo did it in 2004/5 almost a decade ago, but the way Ben battles you fancy him to be amongst the goals every game. Therefore it is inevitable that a Football league side will come in for him with the Imps unlikely to want to stand in his way. Ben was 24 on Thursday and, with him tied down to a two year deal, the Imps will be able to cash in on a forward that is destined to play higher and with the best years of his career still in front of him.
