Lincoln V Tamworth The Teams & Schemes
Two home wins, against Tamworth FC and Aldershot Town, in five days could see us there or thereabouts, with second on the cards should results go our way tonight. The Lambs however come to Sincil Bank as great travellers with a budget well in excess of our own, so this makes tonight’s game yet another David and Goliath encounter that ax-Lamb Wright and the rest of the mighty Imps are determined to win. If Lincoln can get six points from the next two games a play-off shot could well be on the cards this season. We need to because this is the best chance we will have to get back into the League for quite some time given the finances and level of ambition at the top of the club.

The potential teams
Miller Brown Boyce Newton (Y-86)
Tomlinson Power Jordan
Dale Belford 4-4-2
2 Evans 6 Richards-Everton 15 Courtney 19 Capaldi
27 Wright 8 Baker 7 Kerry 20 Todd
17 Peniket 26 Alliyu
Full-backs Capaldi and Evans (in from Gillingham) like to get forward with both Lambs possessing a great long throw. Add big tall centre-backs Richards-Everton & Courtney, plus giant Peniket and the lively Alliyu into the mix and we have plenty to concern us at every kind of set-piece. The tough tackling Lambs will mix it up and will press for set-pieces in order to get a breakthough that could see them park the bus andd frustrate us just as Salisbury did. But with 19 goals conceded and a 4-4-2 to confront our attacking four plus Miller and Newton, the Lambs will not fancy the Imps brand of counter-attacking football backed by our own aerial prowess should the passing option not get through.
Wright, Tomlinson, Power and perhaps even Fairhurst will enjoy tonight with Nolan pulling the strings in a less populated centre than he has been used to for much of the season. Kerry and Baker (in from Barrow), the central duo are useful and get amongst the goals with the latter bagging three to the two assists of the latter. Given the tough spine that runs down both teams, with 42 bookings and three reds between them, this is set to be a lively affair tonight, not to mention some thrills and spills in the box. Foster should keep his place (Fofana has a knock) next to Nolan so we will not be out-muscled in the middle either.
Miller and Newton (on 4 yellows now) will also have to deal with wide-boys Wright and Todd, with Evans on the overlap too. Newton may earn his fifth yellow of the season if he is not careful, then again Evans is in the last chance saloon on four himself. The central midfield partnership has style, guile and goals in them but they will struggle against the Imps 5 man phalanx, allowing Newton and Miller to get into those full-backs from the off. Keeper Belford is not the tallest suggesting a weakness, although the former Bury no1 is a terrific shot-stopper even if his two yellows this season also beg a question or two.
The ambitious Lambs have saved their best form for on the road with two wins, a draw and three defeats seeing them ranked 8th on a divisional basis. Fulham capture Peniket and centre-midfielder Baker have hit the ground running with three goals apiece, but Alliyu (Crawley Town) came good with the winner against Macc and will have to be watched. Peniket is huge and skilful, he will provide a very tough test for Boyce and Brown who will be also need to be at full stretch to contain Alliyu.
