Imps To Back Trinity FA Cup Appeal To Save Stockport Tie
Gainsborough FC’s lucrative trip to Stockport County, in the FA Cup, is currently under threat after the FA Cup Committee found that Jordan Thomas was ineligible to play in the 2-0 win over Rushall Olympic in the last round.
thanks for reading Neil Gentleman-Hobbs.
The deadline for registering a loan player is 12 noon on the Friday preceeding a Saturday fixture and both the Imps and Gainsborough’s maintain that the paperwork was in with well over an hour to spare. Therefore the Imps have made a statement to support Gainsborough’s appeal via the official site HERE
The problem arises from the fact that the FA committee has ruled that the email confirmation was not received therefore, they have removed Trinity from the competition allowing Rushall the opportunity of a lucrative tie at Stockport County – by far the biggest draw at this stage of the competition. STMI wish young Jordan and Gainsborough well, at a particularly stressful time for both parties. The game could be worth over £20,000 in gate receipts alone for The Blues. As for young Jordan, trying to make his way in the game, it is certainly not the sort of thing the young Imp needs.
