Hereford V Bulls – Teams Schemes & Screams

Martin Foyle’s Hereford United pose problems, the Bulls are a big physical side who will put the Imps under pressure from the off.  After a long coach journey the Lincoln will need to hit the ground running and give as good as we get. The bullying jibes are unfair and misplaced, but if there is a game to win ugly this is it. A 1-0 to the mighty Imps will do each and every time we go on the road, because making friends will not help us to get out of a division with just two up and two down.

The schemes

Foyle moved from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3  against Nuneaton but stretched the losing streak to three matches.  On Saturday he made changes  and got a 1-1 draw at Halifax.  By the sounds of the pre-match hype he will bring in all the big guns for what many see as a physical battle.  In truth the Imps are far from Bullies and let their football do the talking once we have earned the right to play.  The Bulls have one less booking than ourselves and are hardly shrinking violets with Brodie, Rankine, and a left back and two centre-halves that are far from shrinking violets.

The Bulls put sides under pressure at set-pieces with ex-Imp left back Bush possessing a long throw like Miller.  Brodie should get the nod ahead of Rankine with ex-Imp Smith his partner up front.   Another ex-Imp Paul Green and James (if he keeps his place) will have an interesting contest against the Imps phalanx unless West and Walker pitch in.  The latter two wide boys will be a threat to Miller and Newton going forward but will struggle to match their counters , leaving Leadbitter and Bush vulnerable on the flanks.

Graham and McDonald will be another tough nut for Tomlinson to crack but Power and Fairhurst will pose them some big problems from deep.  Jordan should get the nod in this one as he, Boyce, Fofana and Brown look to bully where it counts – at a set-piece in the Bulls box.  For all the jibes it is nice that Simmo has finally changed the habitual rabbits between the headlights syndrome that has seen us bullied at corners and bossed off the park in recent years.
