Boyce Faces England Challenge
Andrew Boyce, the former Doncaster Rovers youth, faces the challenge of marking Jake Hyde on Saturday, with his Barnet FC and England C colleague Keanu Marsh-Brown also bombing in through the channel. Both lads made their débuts against Latvia for the national amateur and under 23 side in a 0-1 defeat in Jelgava.
Vic Erzantarz downs a hair of the dog dons the armour and takes to the keyboard.
Boyce will not be alone of course with Nat Brown, Tom Miller and Sean Newton to back him up with Simmo’s two or perhaps even three defensive midfield shields. However the others will be kept busy by runs from deep from a free-flowing side leaving Boyce to mark the Skrill Premier’s top marksman, already on 5 this term.
Simmo slapped a £50,000 fee on Boycie, who saw heartbreak at both Doncaster and Kings Lynn who folded while he was just a kid to end his football dream. Then Gainsborough gave him a part-time opportunity before the Imps ventured a 12,000 fee to give him a chance to make a full-time living at the game again. After turning down interest from 3 League clubs Boycie has been brilliant this season, dealing with some big names and reputations. He is learning from Simmo and Foster as well as forming a great partnership with Nat Brown and appears to be able to cope with height, strength and pace admirably. Nat Brown has backed him well but Andy is beginning to show what Doncaster Rovers saw when they spotted him a few years ago.
Big Game Boycie, both beauty & Beast of Sincil Bank!
