Will Fairhurst Grace Or Boyce Brawn Prevail

Salisbury City looked like an easy three points before wins over Aldershot Town and FC Halifax, as well as a draw at Welling UTD suggest, changed three defeats into a bit of a surge.  This one is going to be tough with a set-piece settling it, but will it be brace with grace Fairhurst or Bank beast Boyce who make the breakthrough?

Lincoln sit one point from the summit, a side and City reborn, but we should not take a big, powerful and quick side lightly, even if they are managed by the youngest manager in football. The heavy rain and conditions will shape the game, with Boyce destined to play a part at either end of the pitch.  Ben Wright, Fitchett and Frear wont be easy at one end but then nor will Boycie and co on the end of a throw,  free-kick  or corner at the other.

The Whites will not come here for an open passing game, this will be blood and thunder with no quarter asked.  This is a division we will have to battle our way out of confronting differing foe each week.  Some have style and some determination, to show that even part-timers can upset the odds. It is almost cup-tie football over a 46 match league marathon.

That said, Lincoln have the quality to settle a tight encounter as Waide Fairhurst proved against Forest Green Rovers. The Imps never got the credit that performance deserved, with some tight teamwork and some wonderful counter-attacking football hauling us back into the game after Barry had got some fortune.  Will a fourth straight home win, against a supposed bread and butter side, do anything to alter the perception of Lincoln. One hopes so but at this stage of the season and given the walking wounded, a 1-0 smash and grab and third place would certainly do.
