Wright Aiming For Glory

He’s quality, Birmingham City farmed Nick out to Bristol City, Northampton Town  and Tamworth before Kidderminster and Mansfield Town came calling. Last season at The Stags was a frustrating one for Nick Wright as Manager Cox signed him in the summer only for Green to get  the nod time and again. After a hamstrung start Nick is raring to go against Salisbury City tomorrow, if he starts – and its a big IF after just half hour –  expect him to fly out of the traps.

When Wright received his Championship medal last season, there was an element of frustration.  Having started just 5 times with 14 substitute appearances he had played little part in proceedings with just one goal and three assists in 531 minutes on the pitch. The problem Nick has had through most of his career is manager’s assuming that he is a target man because he is so tall, the reason he lost out to Green.

Nick is determined to earn some glory on the pitch this season, but,  just 35 minutes into the Macclesfield game the explosive striker’s hamstring went.  Nick is determined to put that behind him and could well come from the bench with Fairhurst and Tomlinson struggling with Abductor (groin) issues these last three weeks. With the Imps playing the ball on the ground he could go up top Saturday should Thommo not pull through.
