Oh Dear Mills Down To Bench at Kings Lynn Then

Former Mansfield Town, Rushden & Diamonds, Crawley Town, Stevenage Borough and Kettering, Nuneaton Town, Lincoln City and Boston Utd midfield dynamo Gary Mills has now been loaned out to Kings Lynn for 3 months.

Vic Erzantarz covers the news no one else wants too.

Signed by manager Dennis Greene in the summer and made Captain at Boston, Mills our ex-captain and ‘Mr Pointy-Shouty ‘  has not featured in a single competitive game for the Pilgrims.  He had been due to play against Lincoln but had not quite recovered from a pre-season strain, following his rehabilitation from a knee injury.

In an incredible turn of events Mills was first told he did not feature in the managers plans after playing just one game against Gainsborough in the Lincs Cup.  Then he was farmed out on loan to phoenix club Kings Lynn for three months. Mills was surprised at the decision but did not want to go into the details and has also admitted that he will sit down with the Chairman and manager upon his return ‘to see where he stands’.

Mills wore his heart on his sleeve at Mansfield, the Imps and Rushden where he spent a large phase of his career, enjoying their football League highs and financial, as well as,non-league lows. It was character building stuff  as he endured their demise, before moving to Bath and then Nuneaton.  Borough would go on to enjoy their third promotion in 4 seasons with Gary a key component in the engine room.   He is a battler, can pass and has sufficient pace and stamina to always turn up to help out or motivate his team-mates pace. He backs down to no one in the challenge.

Gary is regarded as a Holdsworth player because he continues to sign him and make him captain, but surely starting on the bench away at Witton Albion, in a 1-2 defeat must be hard for such a proud man to get his head round. The Skrill North looked about his level after being an instrumental part of Nuneaton’s rise to the BSP last season in 2011/12.
