Tomlinson – The Fearless @ The Fortress.
Ben Thomlinson had Imps beaming with pride during his post match interview, celebrating his match winning double. In saying that teams should be fearing Lincoln and that they will be pleased to get a point of us, it shows the belief in the dressing room that this Simpson side can and will achieve this season.

Ben also described the Imps as a big club, a fact in spite of the comparatively embarrassing budget handed to the manager again this season. But Lincoln fans are used to boards who sit on their hands whilst our turnstile clicks and kind commercial partners are the ones that really fund the dream. What we must do as fans is continue to fund an on-field playing revolution down at the Bank by getting to games, with just 2610 there yesterday (225 were Dragons) we need to talk more into coming back.
The team is showing the way but we must respond. Lincoln average 460 away so far this season, double that of last, fantastic support that would hold its own in League’s one and Two, but the home gate needs to rise too because that pays the wages. The Imps have won all three home games so far this season scoring five and conceding just one with Fortress already being mentioned around the pubs and other social gathering points.
The team is certainly united and have a right to fear no one. Even Cambridge went away licking their bruises. The spoiling nature has negated the prowess of Wrexham, Forest Green and Cambridge for long periods of games which seems to have gone under the radar and not been given the credit it deserves. The tactics have been labelled as negative, yet in reality the two banks of midfielders ensure a counter attack that is very hard to deal with.
Thomlinson and his team-mates have a right to feel optimistic as do the fans. Lincoln City is a potentially massive football club, but due to lack of ambition and investment it has stayed just that – potential – despite a huge growth elsewhere in the City. That is why successful seasons are few and far between at City, so fans should get on board, enjoy the ride and let us see where it takes us this time. It might buy us the target man we seek for starters.
