BT TV Snub For Imps

BT see the top draws as Luton Town, Wrexham FC and Grimsby Town, who all feature twice whilst the Imps get less credit than the perennial British entry into the Eurovision Song Contest.   From a commercial point of view Luton are by far the best supported and Wrexham do play a brand of football that would not be out of place 2-3 divisions higher. That said Lincoln’s style and The Imps brightest start to a season for 6 years should get some screen time, although Forest Green Rovers will seriously test our play-off credentials on Saturday.

BT yesterday announced games up to and including 16 November, however the first week of  November is still without a game. This is the weekend we entertain big spending Gateshead, who have also yet to be screened.

26-Aug Hyde v Grimsby
07-Sep Luton v Grimsby
13-Sep Wrexham v Luton
27-Sep Kidderminster v Aldershot
13-Oct Barnet v Wrexham
17-Oct Macclesfield v Southport
31-Oct Salibury v Hereford
16-Nov Barnet v Cambridge

So Where to watch then?

BT Sport have now incorporated ESPN’s UK channels and broadcasting rights, although ESPN will continue to operate within BT Sport. This is great news as ESPN  have a wealth of broadcasting experience backed up by a renowned statistical resource for fans and journalists alike. BT have also agreed a new deal with Virgin Media who will offer it for free with their XL Package, although they will charge if you just want BT Sport as a stand alone service.

The overall BT Skrill Premier deal will see live broadcasts for 25 league matches, plus both legs of the play-off semis and the Promotion Final at Wembley, for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. As to the financial split, the details are still sketchy, although the £300,000 per year deal is well up on the previous deal.  Another interesting development, thanks to the price war between Sky and BT, could also see the games be made free to viewers on some if not all platforms.
