Tomlinson Looks Hungry
Ben Thomlinson may not have scored last night against Macclesfield but he put in a big performance for the team along with other unsung heroes in a side that is looking increasingly harder to beat.
thanks for reading Neil Gentleman-Hobbs.
Danny Rowe’s goal will deservedly grab the headlines, but Thommo chased every lost cause for the entire 90 minutes. On another night he would have opened his competitive account for the Imps but the fates conspired to rob him. Having led the line throughout he was denied a blatant penalty when Williams pushed him in the back with not just one but two hands. Both benches and everyone else in the ground could see it – the fourth official included- but the ref did not and in Football he is the only one that counts.
Thommo was a constant menace to Macc Centre-back pairing Williams and Bolton with full-back Connor using every trick in the book as he went for the channels to take off the heat. Ben’s beautiful curling drive in the first half brought an outstanding save from Taylor who palmed over a certain goal.
His cushion chest down to Power showed great technique and his vision to latch onto a cheeky chip from Rowe brought another great stop from Taylor. He was then penalised for a challenge he won fairly as he chased down another through-ball. His strength and determination then saw the Macc defence bring him down by hook and by crook for the penalty that never was.
Never mind Thommo get the winner against Forest Green on Saturday and we’ll be laughing all the way at the Bank.
