Oh Dear Wright’s Gone Wrong Then?

Nick Wright our new signing from Mansfield Town (formerly of Bristol City, Northampton Town, Tamworth and Kidderminster) looks to be out for a couple of weeks after his hamstring clearly went against Macclesfield last night. Both Sportin Hortin & Tommo remarked on the event. Wright chasing a delicious dink from Rowe, pulled up 10 minutes before half time as he looked away and in with a chance of doubling our lead.

 thanks for reading Neil Gentleman-Hobbs.

Nick really is unplayable when he is on fire, pouncing from either flank or feeding off a target man in a supporting striker role. Although he failed to break into the first team squad at Birmingham, they saw he had something, so Nick saw loan deals with the Lambs, Northampton Town, Ashford and Bristol City.   He signed for the Lambs upon his release from Birmingham in 2007 and bagged 13 and 10 respectively in his first two seasons. He was a massive part of the promotion side that made it back into the BSP in 2008/9 delivering as many assists as goals.

Local rivals Kidderminster stepped in and he bagged 8 in 2010/11 and 15 in 2011/12, despite  half his appearances coming from the bench. It was of some surprise to Lambs that Mansfield’s Cox was allowed to nick him at the beginning of last season. Again he was used as an impact player with 1 goal in 5 starts and just 531 minutes to impress, with 9 short cameos from the bench.

It is still too early to tell as to whether the injury is a tweak or a pull although his swift removal and replacement by Dixon saved further damage. Nick has already bagged a hat-trick at Harrogate in pre-season and will be missed on Saturday against Forest Green. Although it is a blow for Nick the Imps do have fleet of foot Bohan Dixon and Ade Yussuff to replace him. TMI wish Nick a speedy recovery as his pace will certainly terrify more than a few teams this season.
