Rowe’s Reign Cometh

Danny Rowe has the pedigree with Manchester United, Preston North End, Fleetwood Town and Stockport County already on the 23-year-olds CV. Macclesfield Town (tonight) and Forest Green Rovers (Saturday) we hope will be the defining moment in kick-starting the career of an incredible talent.  Fans and beancounters at The Bank certainly hope so and in equal measure one suspects.

Manchester United incredibly agreed up to £136,000  with Preston for the mercurial middleman’s talents when he was just 12. We have seen why with a brilliant hat-trick in pre-season and some wonderful passing and movement that can and will act as a spark in a midfield starved of beauty and invention for years.

Lincoln’s last attacking midfield aristocrat, Lee Frecklington, has already bagged three goals in his opening three games for Rotherham. He is playing for Steve Evans a man despised by Lincoln City fans ever since his errant Boston days. His predecessor Peter Gain has now retired thanks to his knee having no cartilage to work with.

But Danny is our ray of sunshine now, with a lot of pressure on those young shoulders given our hopes and expectations are so high.  But the ability is there, with a breathtaking shooting prowess and an eye for a pass that can unlock defences and our hearts.  His movement can make him the heartbeat of an attacking awesome foursome that can bring the crowds flocking back to Sincil Bank.  Prayers for a blessing or two then, that Danny can set out our stall tonight at Sincil Bank, in the the hope than an even bigger gate will be here on Saturday wanting more.

Who said being a footballer was easy? But then most privileged to play it outside of the premiership and Championship would not trade the all-to-brief opportunities in the spotlight for the world.  Because like the rest of the Imps he is certainly not in it for the money, this is for glory and hopefully a stepping stone to greatness. STMI so hope Danny gets what his talent deserves and that we get a season of his quality to remember, along with those of Freck and Gainy.
