Posh & Imp Favourite Off To a stormer
Former Peterborough Utd star Lee Frecklington bagged a brace for Rotherham Utd in a 3-3 draw at Crewe Alexandra whilst former Imp Oliver spent the game on the bench after his big money move. Crewe had gone two up before Freck side-footed home. A Davis penalty on 48 made it 3-1 before Freck inspired a late late show. Pringle got one back on 86 before Frecks stunning 25 yard volley (remember those) squared things in the 90th minute. Our former youth prodigy is still doing well it appears having flown the nest.

Incredibly our Frecktanian is now playing for Steve Evans the ex-Boston manager we so loath in Impdom. Mr Evans took him on loan from Posh last term before signing him for well into 6 figures last January. Alas it was less than we had already received so the sell-on did not work out as planned. That said we did very well out of Freck both on and off the pitch. He was the jewel in Deehan and Schofield’s passing princes in 2006/7, dubbed Frecktanian with his three musketeers plus Stallard and Forrester up front. His passing and goals were top-notch and Scott Kerr were a formidable force in the centre of midfield – going forward that is.
It all went wrong under Jacko – Luton away at half-time to be precise – with Barry Fry getting him in February 2009 on loan for 3 months with the deal to be made permanent in the summer. The cash strapped Imps got part of the fee in the February with the remainder coming in the summer (circa £225K plus add-ons that would eventually almost double the deal). Lee tasted the Championship twice and did well after a promotion from L1, then relegation and then promotion, in successive seasons. While his parent club were relegated again last year Freck finally tasted League 2 promotion success, this time as a runner up, avoiding the need for the play-off lottery (he saw failure in the semi finals for the Imps in 2005–06 &, 2006–07.
Freck bagged 23 goals from 138 appearances in all competitions for the Imps and gave us some wonderful memories, indeed during that 2006/7 season he was worth the admission on his own in at least half the home games. Will 11 goals since January for The Millers the 27 year old looks ready to hit his professional peak this year and next.
