Chester Boast Leeds, Tranmere & Plenty of Credentials

The arrival of Leeds Utd twins Nathan & Lewis Turner on loan has added to a double swoop from Tranmere Rovers and raids on York City, Rochdale, Accrington, Hereford Utd, Clitheroe and promotion accomplices FC Halifax (x2).  As we will see Chester are not just coming into the Skrill Premier to make up the numbers, manager Neil Young has great expectations even if Nick Fenton turned down a deal, that would have iced the cake. As to whether it bakes and makes Young a masterchef, who knows but lets have a closer look shall we?

Chester FC is one of the sides that will have to be reckoned with and therefore watched this season. The Seals, the Blues (certainly had some over the years) or City as they will always be known, may not get it right first time but with their support and, therefore budget, they are on the rise and, back from the dead to boot, motivation and momentum personified. City reformed in all but name in 2010 and enjoyed a meteoric rise, with an average gate of almost 2600 in the Blue Square North last season.  That would have put them 5th over the last to seasons in the Premier and Mansfield and Stockport left the Division last season. Its a shame as the Hatters would have taken 2,500 fro a derby that is almost as eagerly anticipated as the England V Wales affair against Wrexham.

The double swoops on Leeds and Tranmere have seen a defender and midfielder from each.  Rovers defender Michael Kay will Join Whites youth Lewis Turner, who is on loan until the end of the season, whilst midfield slots are taken by his twin Nathan and Danny Harrison of Rovers.  The Turner twins were here during the latter half of last season and played a big part in the championship run in with Nathan grabbing a 25 yard jaw dropper as well as the 100th goal of the campaign.

Ex-Imp left-back Joe Heath joins from Hereford to complete a pretty comprehensive back four refit but the midfield will be unrecognisable. In comes McIntyre from Rochdale, Jarret from Halifax, Pugh from Clitheroe and winger Lindfield from Accrington.  The side certainly has some pace on the flanks, one has to give manager Neil Young that at least, with shrewd signings on paper all over the park.  Up front Seddon is the second tweak from Halifax, who accompanied Chester up the Northern promotion carousel; whilst wideboy forward Reed, also joins from York (cracking player on his day).  Tichiner is in on loan from Fleetwood until January, although if he can live up to his goalscoring ability he could well stay the season along with the Leeds twins.
