Lincoln V Middlesbrough (Dev) – The Teams & schemes.

Ex Imp & Bristol Rovers Carayol and ex Chelsea keeper Turner could be amongst a Middlesbrough FC development side that come into this one off the back of a 3-2 win over big spenders Rotherham Utd, determined to make a bid to get into the Championship themselves this year. Gibson, Haroun and Jutkiewicz, got the goals against the first string Millers, scoring sub Jutkiewicz, replaced tricky winger Haroun and even Mustapha Carayol started on the bench. Captain Smallwood, aka ‘Mr Dependable’ orchestrates the midfield and the set-pieces with centre-half Ben Gibson keen to get forward to plunder goals.  With the quality (potentially 3-4 first teamers) on show it could be a question of I want one of those.com for manager Gary Simpson as he meets & greets ex-Imp Clapham in the other dugout.

Remember its a 2PM kick-off, thanks for reading Neil Gentleman-Hobbs

Away fan essentials…………..

Middlesbrough fans will be housed in the Stacey West (the former home end) with a low roof that creates a great atmosphere.  The real Ale away pub The Golden Eagle, on the Hight street is just 2 mins from  the ground although the spacious Trust Suite at the opposite end of the ground is away fan friendly too. The Brayford Marina is also a nice spot, somewhat easier to get to than the climb up Steep Hill to the Cathedral and historic Bailgate.

The Teams & Schemes

To call this side a bunch of kids would not do them justice, indeed development sides command a level of financial resources second only to the first team, including a few over 21’s and fringe first string players.  The development squad is the pinnacle of one of the best youth systems in Europe, habitually delivering more first teamers who have gone on to Premiership clubs for millions.   They took 271 to The Millers in midweek  suggesting a decent turnout. Boro, have pace down the flanks and score from all over the park, suggesting this will be a bigger test for the Imps, than the Black Cats.

The Imps will make changes from the team on Saturday, thanks to the defensive injury crisis easing. Ben Thomlinson will start with Rowe and Nolan back plus an emerging Fairhurst getting stronger by the day.  Miller, Brown and Gray should get at least a half, with Connor Robinson impressing the management with his determination to break into the starting 11 this term , The pace of Lincoln can therefore hurt a Boro side in full flow, that superlatives would fail to  do justice. This should be a high scoring passing affair and another chance for us to impress the right kind of clubs.  If they see us playing the game the right way then the chances are the loans can come to a side that can improve and toughen up young pros making their way in the game.

The potential teams and schemes are as follows.

Note (Thanks to a Boro fan) the line up below could change dramatically with Boro facing Bordeaux at home today. Look then for forwards Bradley Fewster and Houghton, plus winger Lewis Sirrell in place of Haroun (the Belgian international)
