Preston centre-half Luke Foster, goal machine Ben Tomlinson and David Preece (former keeper at Aberdeen FC, Barnsley, Darlington & Sunderland) have joined since our last squad update. The squad now stands at 20, as envisaged by the manager plus the promoted youth duo of Thomas and Cunningham (good luck lads)

With money left over in the budget, despite something of a coup in signing Foster and Tomlinson, albeit after a waiting game, all we need is the return to fitness of the remainder of the back four. Fortunately that is not too far away with Saturday mooted as a return date for Miller and Gray. Nat Brown is close too, suggesting a healthy rivalry for the two centre-back positions. Todd Jordan, a quick healer is about two weeks away and can cover at centre-back, left back and the preferred defensive midfield berth.
Miller and Gray will give us the direct plan B option (plan A in the days of KA) with those huge throws, additionally with so many in the side over 6 foot. The squad looks reasonably balanced, although the no manager can tell if the blend is there until the action starts for real. Questions remain over the ability of all those midfielders, who will ultimately hold the key to our success. They look good going forward, but we will need Jordan and Fofana to help Nolan to guard the defence. Otherwise Captain Power may have to drop back as he has done in the previous couple of games and that seems such a waste, not to mention an ill equipped fit.
