Lincoln V Sunderland – The teams & schemes
Sunderland AFC’s development side come into this one unbeaten after a 2-2 draw at Southampton and a 3-2 win over Darlington. Phil Bardsley ( Scotland U21 signed from Man Utd) and striker Adam Mitchell have first team experience, but midfield schemer Billy Knox, forward Craig Lynch and centre-half Louis Laing are quality. David Ferguson the normal left back could be someone on Simmo’s wish list, although he will be at centre-back, moving over for Bardsley who has been demoted after words with main man Di Canio himself. The Imps give a debut to Ben Tomlinson – so good we had to dust off the chequebook.

Sunderland fans will be housed in the Stacey West (the former home end) with a low roof that creates a great atmosphere. The real Ale away pub The Golden Eagle, on the Hight street is just 2 mins from the ground although the spacious Trust Suite at the opposite end of the ground is away fan friendly too. The Brayford Marina is also a nice spot, somewhat easier to get to than the climb up Steep Hill to the Cathedral and historic Bailgate.
The Teams & Schemes
The Imps will make changes from the team on Saturday, thanks to the defensive injury crisis easing and Ben Thomlinson finally arriving, suggesting Nick Wright may be able to move to his more natural position, that of poaching from wide. The pace of Lincoln can hurt the unbeaten Black Cats who are oozing class making for a passing game. The potential teams and schemes are as follows.
Miller Foster Boyce Newton
Power Rowe Wright
Marrs, Laing, Ferguson, Bardsley,
Holland, Laidler, McNamee, Agnew, Honeyman, Watmore
