Crewe Bid £15k for Former Owl & Want Away Imp Oliver.
Crewe Alexandra have had a £15,000 bid for former Sheffield Wednesday and want away Lincoln City striker Vadaine Oliver rejected alerting a posse of North West Clubs and closer to home rivals Scunthorpe United and Chesterfield FC, who may still have time to make a move.
Vadaine was released by Sheffield Wednesday last summer and signed on a peppercorn wage by David Holdsworth, before earning a deal until the end of the season. The Imps are however thought to want substantially more for the striker and will chance a tribunal unless they receive a bigger bid. The problem with a tribunal is that they will take into account the financial investment as well as the time and effort spent in improving a player who will set the BSP alight next year. Vadaine scored 13 goals in 22 starts and 19 substitute appearances but shone during the latter part of the season culminating in a hat-trick at Hyde.
Clearly the news that two further League 2 rivals are taking an interest could ensure the Imps get a better fee, although the Railwaymen are said to be set to unveil the player according to various sources. Crewe have recently paid between £30,000 and £80,000 for Michael West and Michael Pogba.
