Bore Axed From Heed

Talented former Grimsby Town and Lincoln City utility player Peter Bore’s career continued its decline as Gateshead released him last week. It could and should have been oh so different as Peter refused a new deal at Grimsby Town and then elected to try his luck trialling at Bournemouth and Shrewsbury Town. Both subsequently declined his services with Simon Weaver rescuing him with a deal at Harrogate Town of the Conference North, before Holdsworth threw him a bone with a chance for the Imps .

You could excuse the rustiness after being part-time with harrogate, but he did show glimpses during the remainder of 2011/12. This season saw high hopes, given he would have a preseason fitness regime behind him.

Clearly his versatility was an attraction, in a pivotal season for both player and club. Peter can fill in at full-back or  wide midfield. Peter has also played as an out and out striker as well as a devastating winger in his youth and pro Grimsby days.
Certainly his half-hearted displays  together with his Mariner heritage hardly endeared him to the City faithful as the talented lad failed to shine that often for the Imps.
