Who Is Luke Foster ?
Former Oxford United, Mansfield Town, Stevenage, Rotherham, York City and Alfreton centre-half Luke Foster has just been released by League 1 side Preston North End. Another ex- Sheffield Wednesday youth, the Mexborough lad was spotted by Simmo and signed by KA in 2005. Despite getting a two year deal he played no part in John Schofield’s brief carpet-ball revolution during the 2006-7 season. Simmo clearly knows the lad, but he will have to use his enticing skills to the full, if he is to have any chance of landing a talented centre-back.

Luke managed just 8 appearances (6 league 2 cup) and one goal (header V Coventry FLT) for Preston last season, having failed to dislodge Wright and Huntingdon. He was only at the Whites on a short-term deal and now finds himself looking for work. He has the BSP promotion pedigree having helped Oxford to finally get back into the League. He made 109 appearances for United but has failed to settle at any other club with Stevenage (24 aps) and Holdsworth’s Mansfield (16) the two exceptions. Luke slated Mansfield, referring to the dressing room as a shambles although he did make a full apology to the fans. Loans at York as well as Scarborough and Alfreton, both whilst on Wednesday’s books, also complement a CV that could benefit from teaming up with Simmo again.
The Imps may have to play a waiting game, as the Yorkshire based centre-half will surely catch the attention of plenty of League 2 suitors this side of the Pennines.
