Walsall Winger’s A Done Deal

Gary Simpson will make Walsall Winger Jake Jones his first signing and make the lad a star.  Jake has not been given too much of an opportunity at the Saddlers this season with just 1 start and 7 sub appearances, racking up a mere 149 minutes of football. However Simmo has been a good influence on the lad and made a great impression. There was only one option for him when Walsall manager Dean Smith agreed to release him, although he will not officially join up with the Imps until July (players are contracted to June 30th).

The Saddlers finished a secure 9th in League 1 after flirting with relegation during  the previous two seasons but Jake is surplus to requirements. But there is another bright red and white, this time striped, light at the end of the tunnel. Jake has been impressed by the vision shown by the manager and wants to put his long-term career development ahead of short-term financial gain. He has already made a massive down-payment, earning the penalty that saved our Lincolnshire bacon. Jake, now a free agent , frightened the lives out of the tiring Tamworth defenders, forcing Oji to bring him down in the 83rd minute. Simmo gave him the signal to save our Sincil Souls on 66 and he clicked. His introduction was a master-stroke by the manager, mindful that his pace and trickery would have a winning impact against tiring legs.

Jake can win a game on his own and will be supplying the bullets for the likes of Vadaine Oliver and his new partner in crime, who is also said to be close to completing a deal. Simmo’s mobile has been read hot over the last few days, with deals gathering pace as the Championship and play-off season comes to a close.

In the right side and,  with the right manager, Jake will go places. Sincil salivates……..
