BSP Basement Battle – 9 Contenders 53 Points Needed

Nine bid for BSP salvation with Stockport County, Southport, Gateshead, Barrow, Nuneaton, Hyde, Alfreton, Tamworth and the Imps scrambling for seven lifeboats. Realistically two look set to join, all but down, Ebbsfleet and relegated Telford, with the next 8 days seeing some huge head-to-head confrontations.  Incredibly, a herculean task of 53 points could be needed for safety this season.

The Road Ahead

This week is simply massive. Tuesday sees three head to heads involving the 9 plus the Imps game at Luton.  A win for Barrow (at Alfreton) and Nuneaton (at Gateshead) would put real pressure on the Imps (at Luton) and Stockport would return to the drop zone.  Poor Alfreton play Tamworth on Thursday in another basement battle that will see the loser sweating going into the weekend. Stockport County will have to wait until Saturday to make amends, with their Tuesday catch-up game next week at Gateshead.

Saturday sees Ebbsfleet play Telford in a game they could have done with 2 weeks ago. The Imps play Tamworth, who could be tired from Thursdays trip to Alfreton, in a game that could yet be pivotal for both clubs futures.  Alfreton could have done without the trip to play-off bound Newport. Nuneaton face Hyde in another key battle. Stockport will be well backed as they seek to beat Dartford. Southport will not be relishing the trip to big-spending Forest Green.
