Imps Promise Goes Unfulfilled as Trinity Bag Platt

Conal Platt the former Cambridge United, AFC Bournemouth, Morecambe and  Liverpool youth has joined Gainsborough Trinity after leaving the Imps by mutual consent. The unlucky lad has been told he can continue to train with the Imps if it will speed up a return to match fitness. Trinity currently only train once a week. But what a sad end to a gifted lad who lit up some dark days before getting an injury that only happened in a practice game.

Things started well for Conal when he joined on loan  from Cambridge United in November 2011. The leftwinger burst onto the scene and was many Imps belated  Christmas present  when the move became permanent two months later in the January window.  A promising three goals and four assists in a sweet seventeen game run was, alas, curtailed when he broke his leg in a behind closed doors friendly at Doncaster in February 2012. Conal did make a substitute comeback appearance in the 4-2 defeat at Southport in January.

A quality player on his day Conal will have to be at his best with Yates and Harkness ahead of the pecking order and in a rich vein of form.  Trinity beat Hinckley 2-0 on Tuesday with ex-Imp Paul Connor getting both goals. The Blues are three points off the play-offs, in seventh, but beat Wrexham 2-1 as they narrowly missed out on Wembley 2-3 on aggregate.
