Imps Cup Run Starts With Halifax For £12/£8/£5

The Imps will entertain FC Halifax  in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup after they beat Chester FC 3-1. There will be £12,500 in prize money for the winners up for grabs. This will not be an easy one,  as Halifax (reformed in 2008) are 5th in the Blue Square North. Neil Aspin’s side are full of ex-league players and narrowly missed out on promotion to the BSP last season (3rd losing to Trinity in the play-offs).

An early goal from the gifted John Worthington put the Shaymen one up. A long throw from  Toulson, was only half cleared, St Jute crossed and Worthington bravely stabbed home.  Chester’s Michael Powell was then sent off after 30 mins after an attempted head butt on St Juste . Lee Gregory got a second before 10-man Chester pulled one back through a close range Marc Williams drive on the hour.  A fantastic run down the right and finish by Chris Worsley settled things, with the man-short visitors threatening a shock in the true spirit of cup tradition.  A decent crowd of 1,514 saw the game and Halifax will be no mugs looking at last night’s side:-

Glennon, Toulson, St Juste , Hogan, Jarrett, Lowe, Worsley, Marshall, Johnson, Gregory, Worthington.

Bench – Senior, Bolland, Qualter, McManus, Hackney, Seddon,
