Imps V Hatters: Teams & Schemes
Luton Town will continue with a 4-2-3-1 formation that has seen them win two on the bounce. Prior to that, their last venture into Lincolnshire saw them fall 4-1 at the Fishy folk. So, perhaps a victory is not completely out of the question. Holdsworth needs one, as a poor run against the also rans means he will now have to conjure wins against the better sides in the BSP this month. That is if he is to save his skin. STMI reckons 3 more defeats and even Bob’s staunch defence of the manager will be just another October vote of confidence, prior to the annual November change.

The Teams & Schemes
Buckle looks set to name the same side, although with Kovacs and Beckwith back, you would fancy a change at the heart of the defence, with Ainge and Essam them missing out. This will be a tough one for young Oliver, but Larkin has the cunning to get us a goal at least if – a big if – we can keep things tight. Captain Henry and Howells are useful on the overlap, with Fleetwood and Gray playing off them to exploit from deep.
Lawless and O’Donnell, the two defensive midfielders, plus Fleetwood, A Gray and conjurer Kasim, will pose our midfield and back four some big problems today. The pace and movement along with the two fullbacks will see another 8 on 8 rearguard action for the Imps, with Nicolau and Smith the keys to unlocking a Luton defence that is susceptible to the swift counter. Buckle has needed to apologise in the recent past as Alfreton (0-3) and Grimsby (1-4) pillaged and plundered the Town.
Boyce and Miller have what it takes to deal with the gifted and awkward Rendell, but Kasim and leading scorer Fleetwood are the concern today you feel. The creativity of Kasim, a free spirit that plays the game the way it should be played, has allowed Kissock to go on loan to Macc and we know how he took us apart in the same role when the Silkmen did for us 3-2. Fleetwood will certainly test new signing Gilbert’s early career pedigree as he can make or take in the final third in the blink of an eye. Miller must be mindful today or England C keeper – thanks for Listening Fairchild – Fantastic Farman will need an 11 to go with last weeks 10, if we are to have a chance of snatching even a point from this one.
