Tamworth 1 Lincoln 0 Reg’s Days Look Numbered.

What ever positive spin the Imps try to put on this latest defeat at Tamworth, bottom line we are back in the bottom four and went behind just 1 minute into the game.  Captain Mills is also likely to miss 3 games after seeing red for violent conduct after he and Lambs Captain Taite clashed after a poor foul from the latter.

For the benefit of  the visiting Lambs, first the  formations, then the match report and finally more stats than you can shake an Imp or Lamb at. Thank you for reading Neil Gentleman-Hobbs,

But to the game footy fans to the game…………………..

The Imps kicked off but were immediately behind as we were caught cold. Jeffers fed into the path of Kerry who finished a fine probing run side-footing firmly home. giving Farman no chance.  A good long throw from Gray saw Sheridan fire over the bar.  A Dempster slip, saw Oliver hurry his shot and smash over.  Tommy Wright then drilled wide as we were almost carved open again.

Morgan did Barrow for a yellow on 22 and five minutes later Tate did Mills with both players going at it sufficiently for the ref to red card them both once he had realised and stopped the game. Baldock was then given a booking on 35 for a rather late one on Sheridan.   Baldock was then fouled and elected to fizz one in himself but Farman saved well and Fofana cleared the danger.  The Imps had dominant at times, although a family bereavement for Larkin had robbed us of his services. Quite why Taylor did not start is anyone’s guess.

Second Half

No change to the 20 saw the Imps go for the equaliser. A Sheridan effort was blocked and a shot from Morgan was also wide of the mark.  Marshall was then booked for a body check on Sheridan.  Wright, well marshalled by Boyce all afternoon is then penalised for a foul on his marker.  a curler from Morgan saw Breedon claim confidently.  Reg made a double substitution with Adam Smith on for Sheridan and Taylor on for Bore.  Sheridan, to be honest, had been a big part of things that had seen us more than edge the possesion, shade the chances and at least lead the corner count 6-0.  Gudger then replaced Jeffers as the Lambs attempted to get another body into midfield.

A Cunnington drive needed another good save from Farman. Barrow saw yellow for a foul on Smith. Robinson came on for Hutchison as the Imps went 3-3-3 in search of an equaliser, that left us open at the back. Centre-half Marshall tried his luck with a left foot pile-driver that did not trouble Farman.  Till’s corner was then headed against a post by sub Ivey-Ward.  Fofana, who had a decent game  then seemed to be a marked man with fouls from Cunnington and Kerry.  Robinson was also fouled by   Baldock and Cunnington got a late yellow for dissent.  As ever a brave performance from the Imps showed no end product and we sit back in the bottom four with the home game against Nuneaton a must win game for Holdsworth. Win that one or even Bob may be thinking a change is needed.
