Sheffield Wednesday Striker Oliver Set To Storm Sincil Bank Saturday

Former Sheffield Wednesday striker Vadaine Oliver looks a snap after a rampaging, scoring,  full debut at Telford on Saturday.  Oliver, 20 and a goal machine at Hillsborough,  wants to be the ex-Owl on the prowl when Hyde roll up this Saturday.  After a storming display, despite us dropping into the bottom three,  salvation is at hand and Vadaine is the man that can.

Signed on a permanent deal until May, his picture in the  Lincoln City 2012/13  squad photo had set the cat amongst the pigeons after a great debut against Grimsby on Tuesday.  Scant opportunities in the final few minutes of games saw him rush what little came along and you felt Reg was going to mothball a gem. Then on Saturday he started and was a handful from start to finish against the Bucks experienced duo of Rose and Briscoe.

He was unplayable first half.  His physical presence and pace saw him unload a hay-maker, but Young was just about its equal.  He volleyed a fag paper’s breadth over the bar before a Gray centre saw him loop his header just over. He got the goal his persistence and performance deserved, when Nicolau sent over a corner and Oliver twisted,  to rise supreme and power a header home for the lead on 43.

Wednesday’s loss is our gain, as the lad looks to have what it takes at BSP level and beyond.  That goal will give him the confidence to go with pace and grace. Vadaine certainly has raw power, but he has a great technique too.  He certainly seems to have the hunger, physical presence and aggression we need.  At 6′ 2″ he is also a handful in the air.

The starving Sincil Imps need to see him Saturday, because this is the sort of stuff that gets the turnstiles clicking.  On the Telford showing he definitely deserves another run-out and the chance to bag a Hyde brace.

Well played Vadaine, Take a bow son!
