Terriers Denton Returns – Its the Imps & Alfreton teams & schemes
Alfreton have strengthened with Huddersfield striker Denton set to return from a 3 match ban and Meadows from Nottingham Forest also pushing for a start. They have also signed Taylor from Barnsley and laid out fees to Macc for striker Tomlinson and Kidderminster for centre midfielder Bradley. But in truth the Fleet are a much better side and the Reds have seen a pointless last three. A few words of warning ahead of what should be three easy points. The visitors here 2-1 in an FA Cup fourth qualifying replay in November and 1-0 in the BSP in March. Our 1-1 draw with Ebbsfleet also broke their winless trio, so let us hope we are not going to allow the same thing to happen here.

This is a six-pointer for both sides, even if it is early in the season. The Imps, are in crisis with just 1647 fans for a Saturday game and Lord knows how many will bother tonight? Thankfully Alfreton look set to bring 200 and simply have to stop the keystone cops defending if 4 goal Clayton’s endeavours are going to that recent 3-1 win over Barrow.
15 Gray 19 Hutchison 5 Boyce 3 Nutter
12 Sheridan 8 Power 4 Mills 16 Nicolau
10 Taylor 34 Larkin
It is touch and go with Mills, but Bore certainly looks unlikely to start. Miller and Smith are again absentees leaving us with Sheridan and Nicolau on the flanks and Hutchison partnering Boyce at the back. Taylor and Larkin need Power and Mills to supply the service they did not get on Saturday, if we are to get the three points we should from this one. At the back we look solid so we do not need a hatful in this one. Then again at one nil after three minutes on Saturday we somehow let a vital win slip from the bag.
2 Law 17 Streete 6 Kempson 12 Franks
19 Russell 4 Taylor 10 Bradley 11 Arnold
9 Clayton 8 Denton
Manager Nicky Law is threatening wholesale changes for this one so the side is difficult to judge. This will be the Reds third away game in the last four, but they will be out to make it 3 wins in 3 at the Bank, with Luton at home and FGR away to come. The Ace up their Sincil sleeve is striker Denton, who is available after a three-match ban and both Anthony Wilson and Theo Streete are back from illness. Streete, alongside Kempson, should steady the ship after the 5-1 mauling at Dartford and Arnold should get a start on the left with ex-Imp Russell on the right. Clayton and Denton (signed from Huddersfield) will he a handful up front, with the latter set to replace two goal Tomlinson. Whether keeper Stewart, on loan from Burnley, will keep his place is anyone’s guess after an utterly shocking debut. Let us get the dodgy keeper chants in early to rattle what little confidence he has left.
