Who Is Goal Machine Dan Holman?

Could the Imps be on the verge of beating Barnet for the services of Dan Holman after Histon manager Dennis Green signed 20 year old striker Louie Theophanous from AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday. The ex Millwall and Dagenham & Redbridge hit-man scored 17 goals for the Dons reserved last season and he has been brought in to replace Dan who bagged 29 for Histon in his first season for the club. He is also up and running this season.

Rose Tinted… speculates to accumulate.

Dan HOLMAN

The sensible betting Imp would think that tomorrows signings would be the two trialists, namely forward Mo Farfana and midfielder Ashley Dunn. But the Imps appear to be on the verge of agreeing a pay-off with Josh Gowling and, have offers for Jamie Taylor and Alan Power still in the mix.  Dunn is a no-nonsense box-to-box midfielder whilst forward thinking Mo is an unknown quantity from Sweden. But Dan Holman really would be the icing on the cake.

Bob Dorrian, keen to get the crowds up fast and damn his critics,  has also put his hand in his pocket to fund Andy Boyce’s transfer this season to bolster Reg’s Wedge.  For all his faults he plays the long game does Bob and Dan looks worth his weight in gold.  Perhaps the Imps may not be quite as poor as they make out when it comes to a centre-forward that would really get the turnstiles clicking.  Dan was signed from  Long Buckby  in July 2011 where he bagged…… wait for it ….  60 goals in 77 appearances and followed it up a league higher in the BSN with 29 last term.  He even tried his luck from 30 yards against Boston this week who went on to win 6-0.  Dan won every award going at the Blue Square North club last season and got league recognition with the BSN player of the month in January.

Histon are not in the best of financial shape but were not prepared to allow the lad to go to Barnet on the cheap 6 days ago.  But now John Beck’s old club have had a second bid in from a BSP club rumoured to be the Imps. You have to feel we are in with a chance as we are holding folding at the moment whilst perenial strugglers Barnet are not.  Even with the TV money they are creaking under a top-heavy wage structure and greater London overheads. Word has it we are also going to announce the signing of a striker tomorrow, the question is will it be Dan or Mo?
