Head Up Dan Gray – Ex-Spireites Lad Doing Just Fine

Dan Gray , our recent signing, was said to be inconsolable after his error that lead to the Cambridge United winner last night.  But the fact is he had hardly put a foot wrong and showed his quality all night long.  Dunk is a canny winger and only got the better of him twice in the latter stages with Adriano Moke pouncing to finish in style.  That apart,  Dan is continuing to prove that the Spireites were wrong to cast him aside.

Since signing on at Sincil Bank until May 2013, Dan has been nothing short of impressive, even though it is sad to see him at right back instead of the centre of midfield.  His forty yard assist to Taylor, for our winner against The Harriers,  capped a reassuring debut. He has pace, positioning and a great presence on the ball that sees him confident enough to turn, dribble or look to play long or short.

Dan is also keen to get forward, linking with Dayley who again showed his quality when he got the opportunity. But Dan does not just start a lot of our attacks with his feet, for his long throws are as good as a free-kick within twenty yards of the half-way line. Ask Boyce will agree, even though Smith supplied his assist last night.  The great thing about Dan is his versatility,  he can play at right-back, centre-back or in the centre of midfield.

Head up Dan you are showing a composure well beyond those twenty-two tender years. Keep the faith and don’t look back in anger.
