18 Peter Bore

Talented Peter Bore refused a new deal at Grimsby Town and then elected to try his luck trialling at Bournemouth and Shrewsbury Town. Both subsequently declined his services with Simon Weaver rescuing him with a deal at Harrogate Town of the Conference North.

David Holdsworth  then showed his faith with a deal until the end of the season, but Peter looked rusty and just a shadow of what many of us have witnessed in Lincolnshire Derbies.  Clearly his versatility is an attraction, although we cannot afford passengers in a pivotal season that could see him needing to  fill in at full-back or  wide midfield. Peter has also played as an out and out striker as well as a devastating winger in his youth days.
Peter Bore has signed a 44 week deal with the Imps running until May 2013.  Bore had undeniable ability at Grimsby and needs to recapture that and fast.  Certainly his half-hearted displays  together with his Mariner heritage have hardly endeared him to the City faithful and this deal smacks of ‘needs must’ for both player and club. The talented utility player has yet to shine for the Imps, but 2 goals and two assists in 11 games suggests that he still has the ability despite  the lack of hunger shown by the player thus far.
However he will be 25 next season and needs to make the transition from potential to a proven player as he approaches what should be his prime.  We wish him luck as he and we need to blossom in August, as opposed to setting come the autumnal sun.
