Power Plays The Ambition Hand

Alan Power has suggested that the Imps must aim higher if we want to keep him according to an article on the official Blue Square Premier site.   Bless him after finally earning his keep for once with a couple of decent passes against Darlington – a side so dire they have not won in 17 games, he is not too sure if he would take us up on our offer should we make him one.  Excuse us if we don’t have your pipe and slippers warmed for you to sign a new deal this chilly April because the saying One swallow doesn’t make a summer comes to mind  Alan

The article goes on to describe him as  – as the former Rushden playmaker – who is out of contract in the summer, wants the club to match his ambitions, even though they have not started discussing a new deal yet.

Well Alan if you had sat or stood where most Imp fans have this season you might have a different take on whether they feel what little cash we have should go in your direction. Four assists and four goals in three thousand three hundred and thirty minutes will hardly have them queuing in the aisles will it.

We admire the fact that he wants a change in attitude at the club – we all do.  But   his signing is hardly likely to shift  season tickets is it?  For starters he needs to earn his place because Thompson has been the only player to put in a shift week in week out and he deserves a more consistent trio around him.

Powers passing consistency has been shocking and in reality it has been goal scoring that is far more of a problem than even our defensive kamikazi crew over the course of the season.   So perhaps Aalan should prove he can do his job before asking Reg – who has in all honesty has been lumbered with him – for a new deal.

Last season at Rushden was hardly the work of a playmaker in his prime either

Looking forward to a stormer on the big screen at Fleetwood then Alan.
